Tamil comedian Vivek’s son passes away

Popular Tamil comedian Vivek’s 13-year-old son has died following brain fever, family sources said. Prasanna Kumar was admitted to a city hospital for brain fever where he had been undergoing treatment for the last 40 days, sources close to the family said. He died yesterday morning, they added. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the death.

Sources at the SRM Institutes for Medical Science, Vadapalani, where the 13-year-old was admitted, said the cause of death was ‘severe brain stem dysfunction, acute dengue hemorrhagic cerebellitis post infectious autoimmune encephalitis.’ He was kept on and off ventilator throughout his hospitalisation. Initially he recovered from the illness, but suffered a relapse later and his condition worsened.
