Anna Square:
This is the burial
place of the former Chief Minister Dr C N Annadurai,
located at the Kamarajar Salai on the northern end of
Marina. The memorial is found in the centre of a beautiful
park. The entrance to this memorial is built using the
contemporary style of arch in the shape of twin converging
elephant tusks.
MGR Memorial:
This is located on
the beach road adjacent to Marina Beach where the former
Chief Minister Dr M G Ramachandran was buried.
Rajaji,
Gandhi and Kamaraj Memorials:
These three
memorials are located within a very short distance from the
children's park. Named after the three great personalities
who brought several turning points to Indian politics and
constitution and ever remembered by the people of India.
Victory War Memorial:
This is situated in
Fort St. George after the great men who laid their lives
for the country during the First World War.
Though Chennai is a
tourist spot, the visitors go back to their home places
with much disappointment because of the lack of maintenance
of some of these places, traffic, pollution and messy road
and streets. The governments are taking all initiatives to
turn Chennai into a Green city and make the city look more
attractive for visitors and city dwellers.
