Thousand Lights Mosque:
Situated in the
heart of city in the heavy traffic zone and the busiest
place in Chennai is the Thousand Lights Mosque named after
the place. The multiple domes, cream painted walls, sayings
from Kuran painted on the walls are the main features of
the mosque.
Makka Masjid:
This is one of
the most important of the mosques in the city which can
accommodate hundreds of worshippers. This situated behind
the Baba Hazrat Darga.
Anna Salai Darga:
The history of this
darga dates back to 450 years where the Muslim Saint
Hazarat Baba preached Universal brotherhood. The darga is
believed to be his final resting place.
Hazrat Baba
Darga:
This is located at No.83, Dr Natesan
road, Chennai. Again one of the popular Muslim worship
places named after the popular Muslim saint Hazrat Baba.
Mohammad Ismail Sahib Mosque:
This is situated in
Triplicane and is believed to be the final resting place of
the parliamentarian and the Union Muslim League President
Mohammad Ismail Sahib.
Thameem Ansari Baba Darga:
Thameem Ansari Baba
was believed to the dedicated devotee of Prophet Mohammad
born in Medina, who after his demise was put in a coffin
and immersed in the sea, as per his wish, which reached the
shores of Kovalam and thus came into existence the holy
shrine of Thameem Ansari Baba.
Moti Baba Darga:
This is the final
resting place of the Muslim Saint Khaja Qutub Sayed Gulam
Dashtagir Moti Baba, who was born in Yemen but brought up
in Nagapattinam. The darga is situated at 422, Pantheon
Road, Egmore, Chennai.
