NDA — Abhishek Rengasamy (AIADMK-backed Independent, SC Candidate)

For the Egmore SC-reserved seat, the AIADMK has fielded Abhishek Rengasamy as an AIADMK-backed Independent rather than under a direct party symbol — a common arrangement in SC-reserved constituencies where alliance seat-sharing produces a supported independent candidacy. The areas around Chennai Central Station — among the busiest transit hubs in South India — have chronically poor pedestrian infrastructure. Footpaths on Poonamallee High Road near Central, Dr Radhakrishnan Salai, and the approach roads to the station are encroached upon by vendors, vehicles, and construction debris.

Migrant and Transit Population Services

Egmore has a large floating population of daily commuters, outstation workers, and transit passengers. Access to public toilets, clean water, and emergency civic services for this non-registered population is a standing governance gap. Local NGOs and resident groups have repeatedly raised this issue.
