AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami issued a Women’s Day greeting, calling women the backbone of families and society. In his message, he said women’s work and sacrifice often go unrecognised, and that public policy should reflect the reality of what women carry every day.
He referred to women-focused welfare measures introduced during the AIADMK government under J. Jayalalithaa, and argued that the current environment has made life harder for women, citing rising prices and safety concerns.
Palaniswami also repeated an election-linked commitment: if AIADMK returns to power, the party would provide ₹2,000 per month as assistance for families, describing it as support for women who manage and sustain households.
He further said AIADMK would revive a two-wheeler subsidy scheme for women, framing it as a tool for mobility, work access, and independence. He added that women’s safety in public spaces, including travel corridors and workplaces, would be prioritised.
The message blended a Women’s Day greeting with a political pitch focused on welfare and security, positioning women’s wellbeing as a central issue for the coming period.
