Thiruvanmiyur Bus Terminus: Routes, Rebuild and ECR Links

Thiruvanmiyur's terminus is being rebuilt with 13 bays. Here is where its routes go, how often they run, and which ECR buses pass through.

Thiruvanmiyur terminus: routes and rebuild

Thiruvanmiyur bus terminus, on the edge of the East Coast Road, is being rebuilt by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority for MTC at a cost of Rs 35.11 crore. Work began in July 2025 and the terminus was due to reopen by April 2026, News Today reported, with 13 bus bays that can hold nearly 70 buses at a time and more than 100 services a day. Check the current position at the stand before you rely on a particular bay.

This guide sets out where the Thiruvanmiyur routes go, using MTC route data from our route pages. Many of them are long cross-city links to the north and west, and the coast routes to Kovalam and Mamallapuram pass through on their way from Adyar and Broadway.

The new terminus

The redesign covers a 1.66-acre site with about 6,000 sq m of built-up area. News Today listed a three-storey main building and a two-storey commercial block, waiting halls, ticket counters, marked boarding and alighting areas, a medical room, shops, crew rest rooms and parking for cars and two-wheelers. The rebuild was meant to fix repeated waterlogging and a lack of passenger facilities at the old stand.
