Chennai’s 16 Assembly Seats Mapped: 2026 Winners and Turnout

Chennai's 16 Assembly constituencies on one tile map: who won each seat in 2026, and how turnout varied from RK Nagar to Mylapore.

Chennai's 16 seats on one map

Fourteen of Chennai district’s 16 Assembly seats went to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in 2026, and the two that did not, Harbour and Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, sit next to each other on the old city’s eastern edge. Both were won by the DMK, according to the results declared in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette of 6 May 2026.

Turnout varied far more than the seat count suggests. Using the official Form 20 result sheets, 90.95% of electors voted in Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar, against 75.59% in Mylapore, a gap of more than 15 points within one district.

Tile map of Chennai district's 16 Assembly constituencies. The TVK won 14; the DMK won two adjoining seats, Harbour and Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni. The final roll had 28,30,936 electors.
Each tile is one constituency, numbered 11 to 26 and placed in rough north-south order.
  • Each square is one Assembly constituency, numbered as the Election Commission numbers them (11 to 26). Colour shows the winning party.
  • The layout keeps the rough north-to-south order of the city, with RK Nagar and Kolathur at the top and Velachery at the bottom. It is not drawn to scale.
  • Turnout figures appear in the second chart and in the table at the end.

Two DMK seats in the old city

The gazette lists P.K. Sekarbabu as the winner in Harbour and Udhayanidhi Stalin in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, both for the DMK. Every other seat in the district, from RK Nagar in the north to Velachery in the south, returned a TVK candidate. Perambur, the seat Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay holds, is one of them.

The Election Commission’s counting page for Mylapore shows how a typical TVK win looked in numbers: 70,070 votes for the winner against 41,098 for the DMK runner-up, a margin of 28,972.

Where people voted, and where they did not

Form 20 is the polling-station-wise result sheet each returning officer files after counting. It states the electors in the constituency and the total votes polled, including postal ballots, so turnout can be worked out from one official sheet. The Chennai sheets are republished from elections.tn.gov.in in an OpenCity dataset.

Bar chart of turnout in 15 Chennai constituencies: Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar highest at 90.95%, then Kolathur 86.99% and Villivakkam 86.68%; Mylapore lowest at 75.59%.
Perambur is left out because its Form 20 sheet could not be read in full.

The northern seats of RK Nagar, Kolathur and Villivakkam top the list. Three southern and central seats, Saidapet, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar and Mylapore, sit below 80%. Perambur’s Form 20 file could not be read in full, so it is left out of the chart; All India Radio’s polling-night report put it above 89%.

About the data

Polling was held on 23 April 2026 and votes were counted on 4 May. The 15 seats with readable Form 20 sheets list 26,67,719 electors and 22,37,735 votes, about 83.9% overall. Form 20 elector counts run 2,000 to 7,500 higher per seat than the February final roll, probably because the roll used on polling day includes names added after it, so the two columns should not be mixed. Turnout here is calculated from Form 20 alone.

Polling-night estimates were lower: All India Radio put Chennai district at 83.44% that evening. This page covers Chennai district only. Seats such as Shozhinganallur, Alandur and Tambaram belong to neighbouring districts.
